Albatross Backpacker Inn

The Albatross is set within 3 of Kaikoura’s most historic buildings. Back in 1890, these walls housed the town’s post office, a place where people came to connect with loved ones and strangers near and far. Although many things have changed since then, one thing remains the same; these walls are home to connections. We, Ben and Katie, are the proud owners of The Albatross and have been since 2010.

The Albatross is so much more to us than just a bunch of beds! As travellers, we, like you, know the basics of a hostel. But who just wants a basic life..?! We invite you to join us in our quirky, ever-changing home, share a meal, play a tune, paint a canvas, be yourself and embrace the real backpacker life! Where chats last all night and friends become family in a home that’s built for you. Our house is literally your house.

We offer double rooms and a queen room, twin rooms, triple rooms, 4 share rooms, 6 bed dorm and a 4 share female only room.

The Albatross offering extremely clean, relaxed and friendly facilities. Very close to all that Kaikoura has to offer.

 

Helpful information Directions: We are located an easy 10-minute walk from the centre of town. A quiet area of town and one block from the beach.
