Welcome to The Pier Hotel, Kaikoura’s classic ‘Kiwi’ pub, iconic nineteenth century hotel guesthouse and restaurant located on the waterfront - famous for the freshest seafood and Kaikoura crayfish.
The Pier Hotel is an historic pub, restaurant and hotel built in circa 1885 especially for the fishing fleet and whalers at the turn of the 19th century. The place is currently owned by a gentlemen who also owns other establishments, but prefers to be a hands on owner in this Hotel. With the breathtaking views from this hotel you will see why he chooses to live and work in Kaikoura.
It is a true 'Kiwiana' pub style residence with modern touches that enhance its comfort and ambience.
The bar in the hotel is cosy and has a fireplace and window benches from which to enjoy the view. The walls are adorned with historic photos all pertaining to the hotel and fishing era of bygone years.
Dining takes place in the main restaurant and has a warm and friendly feel.
The menu changes seasonally to enable diners, both local and visitors, to partake in the freshest produce available.
Kaikoura, a South Island coastal seaport, has long been famous for its crayfish (lobster) fishery, and naturally this delicacy features largely in the cuisine of the area. The Pier’s restaurant is rated one of the best seafood restaurants in the region. The Pier is also proud to offer an extensive wine list featuring local wines of distinction.
